Linked in Friendship, Connected in Service
On November 9, 1946, Margaret Roselle Hawkins and Sarah Strickland Scott, two young Philadelphia visionaries, founded The Links, Incorporated. They invited seven of their friends to join them in organizing a new type of inter-city club. This organizing meeting of The Links was not a spontaneous action. In 1945, Margaret Roselle Hawkins had conceived the idea of a group of clubs composed of friends along the eastern seaboard and had spent many hours with Sarah Strickland Scott in thinking, planning and discussing the possibilities of such an endeavor.
Thirty years later June 19, 1976, the Kent Area (OH) Chapter of Links, Incorporated was founded by Doris Foster Chambers to carry the legacy of Links, Incorporated. Our chapter, proudly serves Medina, Portage, Summit and Stark County.
As the president of the Kent Area(OH) Chapter of Links, Incorporated, I am excited to greet you in friendship and service to introduce the new website for our chapter. The new website will provide you with important administrative, operational and program information with the focus on our core values of Friendship and Service. You will find among other pertinent information, a calendar of important dates for the KAC chapter and also a link to the National Calendar to keep you fully aware of the Services our organization provides.
Also shared on the website are photos that provide a visual representation of how through friendship and service we support our mission statement of “Transforming Communities ~ Fulfilling Our Purpose.
Welcome and Enjoy the new Kent Area (OH), Links, Incorporated website information.
In Friendship and Service,
Deborah L. Gordon
